On 28th February twenty of our Year 10 students attended the BT Employability Skills ‘Boot Camp’ at the BT offices in Doncaster. The ‘Boot Camp’ included a tour of the BT offices seeing over 1,000 employees and working with six in small groups. In the morning students took part in a range of workshops and activities learning and practising a variety of important employability skills from how to write a perfect CV and covering letter to how to give the perfect interview handshake. They talked about career ambitions and aspirations with BT employees and explored the next steps to achieve these. In the afternoon students had an opportunity to ask questions to a panel of the BT employees. Students also completed a group activity to design and market a new technology product to BT in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style format. A student commented that “I learned a lot of useful skills to help me consider my future”.
