Careers Information, Advice & Guidance

Careers Information, Education, Advice and Guidance entitlement

High quality careers education and guidance in school is critical to young people’s futures. It helps to prepare them for the workplace by providing a clear understanding of the world of work including routes to jobs and careers that they may find engaging and rewarding. It supports them to acquire the self-development and career management skills they need to achieve positive employment destinations. This helps students choose their pathways, improve their life opportunities and contribute to a productive and successful economy.

We have a comprehensive and varied careers programme which every scholar is entitled to access. The basis of our careers programme is that we want students to make well informed and realistic decisions about their choices at school and beyond. Our aim is for scholars to raise aspirations, develop broader understanding of the world of work and to develop their self-opportunities awareness to make decisions, review plans and cope with change

At Astrea Academy Woodfields, our careers programme is supported by a highly experienced Careers Advisor, Jane Device

Scholars in Years 10, 11 and 13 will be given an appointment to see Ms Yoxall but all students can request careers advice or a careers advice session. Scholars should speak to Mr Ayres to book an appointment.

All careers advise sessions take place in Ms Device’s office. Our digital careers library contains many articles and support guides containing information, advice and guidance on future education and employment.
