This is an exciting time for everyone involved with Astrea Academy Woodfields with significant building works beginning on the academy site to improve upon the existing provision for our students. This means that for the foreseeable future we will have a large number of contractors working on the premises between 3.30pm and midnight on weekdays and throughout weekends. It is for this reason that we have been unable to host our usual Year 5 and 6 Open Evening during this first half term.
We understand that for parents and carers decisions around secondary school admissions are hugely important. With this in mind we wish to put forward the following opportunities to visit our academy, gain further insight and have the opportunity to ask questions:
· Year 5 and 6 Information Evening Tuesday 22nd October 4-6.30pm
This event will take place in our Sixth Form Centre (formerly the Academy of Sport building) and will involve members of the Senior Leadership Team being available to deliver information and answer questions on the following key areas:
Assessment and /Outcomes Astrea Family and New Build
Behaviour, Pastoral Care and SEND Curriculum and CEIAG
Student Experience and Enrichment Teaching and Learning
· Parent / Carer Tours: Session 1 9:15am – 10:00am; Session 2 10:05am – 10:50am
We invite parents / carers who wish to visit the academy during the school day to contact us and express interest in joining us for either Session 1 or Session 2 on the following dates:
Monday 14th October, Monday 21st October or Thursday 24th October
In addition to the opportunities detailed above, we are keen visit our feeder primary schools and offer informal drop-in sessions after school hours with a view to making ourselves available for parents / carers and students to ask any questions that you may have regarding the student experience at Astrea Academy Woodfields. Details of any confirmed drop-in sessions with host feeder primary schools will be communicated through our website (www.astreawoodfields.org) and Twitter account (@AAWoodfields).
We look forward to meeting you and your child soon but if in the meantime if you have any questions regarding any of the above, please don’t hesitate to contact the school and ask for me personally.
