Astrea Academy Woodfields Battle in Horrendous conditions
Morley Hayes Golf Club – 28th November 2018
British Schools and Colleges Area 4 Round 3
Astrea Academy Woodfields A team squad (Formerly Balby Academy of Sport) struggled with the weather conditions and didn’t perform to the level that they normally produce. However through sheer determination they managed to come out on top in the Nett competition. Lewis Harrison, team captain (Birley Wood GC 3, right) had the lowest score in the A team shooting a good score of 75, which is 3 over par with a double bogey on the last hole. George Ash, pictured below, (Hallows GC 5) had a steady round of 79 been the second best score from our A team. Other players in the team James Millington (Hallows GC 5) shot 82 which wasn’t a bad score but he has been playing really well at the minute so he will be disappointed with that score. George Mason (Wath GC 1) shot an 84 which wasn’t a very good score for him because he has been playing well hopefully he will be able to sort it out before the next match. Astrea Academy Woodfields ended up in second place to Wath A in the gross competition, losing by 4 shots and making it all square at the top of the gross league table. The fine victory in the Nett competition secures second place in the overall nett league table
Astrea Academy Woodfields B team didn’t have the best week but have to forget about it and move onto the next round. Max Reynolds (wheatley GC 4) shot the best score from the B team which was a 84. Ralf Marshall (Retford GC) shot an 85. Andrew Cooke (Retford GC 12) 87 nett 75 so contributed well to the Nett team score. Trafford Grimes (Lincoln GC 7) on Monday he had a good front 10 holes score of 2 over par so we decided to give him a chance in the team. However he carded a 105 which was really uncharacteristic hopefully he will sort himself out before the next game. Hopefully the B team will do better next week when we play at Waterfront Golf Club on Wednesday 5th December 2018.
In the individual order of merit table we now have 5 players in the top places. In 3rd place is James Millington, 4th place Lewis Harrison and 5th place George Ash.
