**IMPORTANT** Update from the Principal

Letter from Mr Atkinson 30102020

30th October 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you and your family are having a restful break over the half-term holiday.

I am writing to let you know that a number of staff at the academy are having to self-isolate, following a small number of positive cases and others having come into close contact with affected individuals. Together, this is having an impact on the number of staff that are able to be in the academy from the start of next week.

As a result, the academy will remain closed on Monday 2nd November and there will be a staggered return as follows:

Monday 2nd November The academy will remain closed to all students. External examinations will run as planned.

Tuesday 3rd November The academy will be open to all students in years 11, 12 & 13 only. External examinations will run as planned.

Wednesday 4th November The academy will be open to all students in years 7, 10, 11, 12 & 13 only. External examinations will run as planned.

Thursday 5th November The academy will be open to all students in years 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 only. External examinations will run as planned.

Friday 6th November The academy will be open to all students in years 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 only. External examinations will run as planned.

Monday 9th November The academy will be open to all students in all year groups

 Remote Learning

On the day that your child is not in the academy, please follow the following procedures for remote learning

  1. They should access immediately work via the Oak National Academy website, for their year group. They must choose a lesson from the subject that matches their school timetable. Web Link: https://www.thenational.academy/
  2. Teachers will be uploading work onto Frog for them to complete. If your child is struggling to access Frog or you have any other questions regarding home learning, please email FrogHelp@astreawoodfields.org for help. This email inbox will be checked once per day.
  3. Students should follow their school timetable as if they were at school. There is further guidance under the ‘Pupil’ tab on the academy website.

What to do if your child has COVID-19 symptoms

As before, we ask that you only send your child into the academy if they are well. If they have any of the COVID-19 symptoms (a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; loss of taste or smell) they must not come into the academy and you should arrange for them to be tested.

Anyone coming into contact with someone with COVID-19 should self-isolate for 14 days.

As you know, at Astrea Academy Woodfields, we have implemented a range of COVID-19 measures to ensure the academy continues to be as safe as it can be. We will continue to follow all government and public health guidelines and keep our measures under review to ensure that we are doing everything possible to keep the environment safe and supportive for all. We wish to emphasise that the safety and wellbeing of children, families and staff continues be our top priority.

Thank you for your ongoing support. As ever, please do get in in touch in the usual way if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely,

Adam Atkinson

Principal
