6 November 2019
As we move through the second half of the autumn term, I am writing with some personal news to let you know that I have decided to stand down as Chief Executive of Astrea.
I am incredibly proud of what we have all achieved in just four years – we are a family of 27 schools, with everyone united in our goal of delivering an education that inspires beyond measure.
We have a strong track record – a 28%-point increase in Reading, Writing and Maths at the end of Year 6, a clean sweep of Ofsted improvements, and a healthy financial position, having reversed a £5.2m deficit that we inherited from the schools that have joined the trust. I am enormously proud to have set up Astrea and to bring together a family of such wonderful schools working alongside dedicated and caring colleagues. With these solid foundations in place, I feel it is time for me to move on – to new challenges, but most immediately to spend some time with my family, including my 8 week old son.
The Astrea Board will be appointing my successor over the next few months and we will keep you updated on any news. In the meantime, I would like to thank you for your support to and for the trust you have placed in us to provide the very best education to your child.
