Stephen Lawrence Day

Stephen Lawrence Day Letter

Dear Parent/Carers,

Stephen Lawrence Day takes place each year on 22nd April to raise awareness of Stephen Lawrence who was murdered in a racially motivated attack in 1993. This is a profound case surrounding racism and institutional racism. Students throughout this week and next week will be learning about this case and its impact.

As a way to mark this day and raise awareness to this case, staff and students are asked to wear an item of clothing which is orange. Staff and students who wish to participate in this event are asked to make a donation (suggested £1), with all proceeds going to the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, a charity which works with young people and their communities to inspire a fairer society. All involved should ensure all other elements of uniform are followed, with their one item of orange clothing.

We thank you for your continued support and we look forward to sharing the work with you that our staff and students will complete.
