Visit to the University of Sheffield

On 14 March, 8 of our Year 9 students attended the second mentoring day at the University of Sheffield. These Year 9 students are enrolled on a 3-year mentoring programme with the University of Sheffield. The students applied for this competitive programme and were all successful. During this visit students completed a range of activities and workshops linked to higher education. In the morning they went to faculty workshops, including the faculties of: Science; Medicine, Dentistry and Health and Engineering for a chance to try hands-on activities and speak to tutors, undergraduate and post graduate students. In the afternoon they completed a marketing campaign for their faculty, creating a TV advert, a faculty flag and a faculty presentation. The advert premieres and presentations were delivered by the students with prizes for the most persuasive films and presentations. One student said “the morning faculty workshop was very engaging and helpful.”
