Year 8 Microsoft Teams Parents Evening – Wednesday 24.02.2021 & Thursday 25.02.2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

It is with great pleasure that I write to invite you to the first Year 8 Parents’ Evening of this academic year. As with many things throughout this year we have had to rethink how we organise and deliver events remotely. Due to the current restrictions, parent’s evenings for the foreseeable future will be held via Microsoft Teams, providing you with the opportunity to book an audio meeting with each of your child’s subject teachers.

To allow some flexibility the event will take place over two sessions;

• Wednesday 24^th February 2021 – 14:30 – 16:00

• Thursday 25^th February 2021 – 16:00 – 17:30

Using the Academy App’s ‘Parents Evening Booking System’, you can schedule a suitable appointment time for your child’s Apollo Tutor to call you.

Your child’s Apollo Tutor will schedule a Teams meeting at the times detailed above. Whilst the meeting will be for the full time slot detailed above, you will only need to join the meeting during the time slot you have chosen via the Academy App’s ‘Parents Evening Booking System’.

If your child is using a PC that does not have a microphone, the Microsoft Teams App can be downloaded onto any Tablet or Smart Phone device.

Prior to the evening you will be issued with your child’s latest report via the Academy App. This report will include an attitude to learning grade for each of your child’s subjects, together with attendance, conduct and attitude to learning grades in each of your child’s subjects. Your child’s Apollo tutor will also be equipped with further detailed comments from each of your child’s teachers to discuss with you during the appointment. This report will be the focus of the appointment therefore please take the time to familiarise yourself with it prior to the meeting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to become involved in discussions regarding how your child settled back into school last term following school closures and the progress that your child is making whilst currently learning remotely.
