Dear Parents/Carers,
I can now confirm that today will be the last day for our Year 11 students. We have selected this date as all students have now completed their assessments that were missing from their ‘evidence basket’ – the evidence used to award Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs).
Careers Advice
If your child requires additional support in relation to careers and next steps after they leave Astrea Academy Woodfields, they can still request support from our careers advisor Mr Lyddiatt via email at tim.lyddiatt@astreawoodfields.org.
Leavers Event
We do appreciate the impact that not arranging a Prom has on our students, and acknowledge that proms and other similar events are really important for our young people, both as a celebration of their achievements in the previous academic year and during their time at a school, as well as for the positive emotional and mental health and wellbeing benefits these events bring. Today, we have held an assembly to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Year 11 students. Leavers Hoodies have been distributed.
Ongoing Support
Our pastoral support of Year 11 students will remain in place up to Friday 24th June (and afterwards should this be required). Miss Page and Miss Daines are available to continue supporting your child, along with Mrs Taylor, who is the assigned senior member of staff for pastoral support for Year 11 – please contact her in the first instance should your child require any further support.
6th Form Applications
Applications to join our very successful Sixth Form are still open. Please visit the school website for information on all of our available courses and to complete our online application form. If you have any questions about joining our Sixth Form, please email Miss Bain at sixthformsupport@astreawoodfields.org.
Pre-Loved Uniform
We have recently set up a service providing free pre-loved uniform to our families. Our service relies on good quality donations from parents whose children have outgrown their uniform. Items we need include jumpers, cardigans, blouses, shirts, trousers, skirts and blazers. If you have clothes you can donate, please take your items to the academy reception.
Results Day
Year 11 results will be available on 12th August. Further information will follow.
Finally, thank you for your support over the last 5 years, particularly during this challenging year. The last 12 months have been a very difficult and unprecedented time for all in the education system and our Year 11’s have responded in a mature and noble manner. I know I speak on behalf of all staff when I say that we will miss our Year 11’s very much. I wish your child every success for the future.
